The starting salary for this role is £62,363 per annum, working 36 hours per week.
Do you have the experience, skills and ambition to strengthen inclusion and improve outcomes for children and young people with additional needs in Surrey?
Surrey County Council is committed to ensuring that all children are supported to achieve the very best outcomes in their local community provision. The Council has a range of inclusion services, that operate through a quadrant model, to help realise this aspiration.
We are looking for an Education and Inclusion Service Manager to lead a number of Inclusion and Additional needs services in the South West quadrant of Surrey. This post will be based in Woking.
In this role you would be leading the following teams:
This is an exciting opportunity to oversee the work of these teams and align them with health and social care services to offer a joined-up approach to meet needs of and improving outcomes for children and young people in the local community
You will also have an opportunity to lead on specific projects within the innovative SEND transformation programme, which includes the introduction of a person centred EHCP format, the use of a digital solution to complete SEND statutory processes, a multi-agency review of the needs assessment pathway and a review of SEN decision making panels.
You will be part of a wider Inclusion and Additional Needs leadership team which is committed to adopting a systems wide approach to identifying and meeting need which builds upon best practice. The leadership team offers valuable peer support which compliments line management support from the quadrant Assistant Director for Inclusion and Additional Needs.
You will also benefit from working in a County Council which has excellent educational provision and a developing culture of working collaboratively with schools.
The Council is expanding both support for inclusive practice in mainstream provision and the number of specialist school places.
There is a strong emphasis on continuous improvement, and you will have access to robust management information data to support your work. Surrey County Council is also keen to support well-being and promotes active listening and responding to the voice of children, young people, parents, carers and staff.
While SEND is a key focus for the role, the role also has responsibility for improving outcomes for all our vulnerable learners with a focus on reducing persistent absence and suspensions.
To join our dedicated, creative team you will need to have up to date knowledge and experience of the education landscape and legislative frameworks for children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities and additional needs and knowledge of schools and educational settings. You will have a track record of managing and leading change as well as experience at a senior level of managing people and monitoring complex budgets in a large organisation.
Our ambition is to secure the best outcomes for our children and young people and we welcome applications from candidates that have proven experience in leading services which strengthen inclusion and make a difference to outcomes for children and young people with additional needs
We would also encourage senior leaders from schools to apply for this role and secondments would be considered.
At Surrey, our values and behaviours are just as important as our skills and abilities. They shape who we are as an organisation. Find out more about the values we follow.
