Are you a teacher who is passionate about the community and particularly attuned to different social issues in your community? Are you the friend who knows exactly how all the layers of government work and the various ways you can navigate the public sector to create change? Are you passionate about everyone, even youth, having a strong understanding of civics and public policy so they too can shape their community? If you answered yes to any of those questions it clearly means that one of your superpowers is curriculum design and we are looking for you! In this new role, you would be creating curriculum to support our after school programming.

If you are in Chicago that’s great! If not, that’s okay too. We are looking for people who are passionate about helping the girls in our program! At Super 7 Girls, you will be working with a collaborative team who all have the same goal of helping as many girls as possible have access to their superpowers so they can change the world. We need team members who can help oversee the development of our new curriculum so together, we can fulfill the mission of Super 7 Girls. Super 7 Girls would not function without the help of volunteers. We are still a young organization and we are still building our organizational capacity. We are working hard to build our organizational visibility so that we have the ability to help more girls have super powers. As we grow, we need people like you – curriculum designing gurus who can help ensure that we can have an even bigger impact on the girls in our program and the overall community. We need you. About Super 7 Girls

Super 7 Girls mission is simple – We help girls from under-resourced communities of color have superpowers (you read that right!). Now, when we talk about superpowers we don’t mean that in the metaphysical sense. When we discuss superpowers we are discussing a certain mindset. By helping girls build various skill sets that they need, they will feel emboldened, confident, smarter and…yep, you got it…superpowered. They will know that there is nothing that they are unable to conquer and that no challenge is too great.

So, you must be curious?!? How does one go about giving superpowers? We know that superpowers grow from consistent access to curriculum that focuses on education, health, financial literacy, policy, arts, leadership development, and global engagement and this consistent access helps the girls have a deep understanding of how their increased knowledge means a stronger ability to take on life’s challenges. We also know that their increased knowledge base disrupts the cycle of generational poverty and transforms the life outcomes and trajectories of the girls in our program. In essence, their superpowers enhance their overall well-being and helps them dream new dreams.

As you can see, we have big, hairy, audacious goals and we need our staff to be bold and to act as role models of this superpower mindset – visionary, courageous, confident, determined and reflective. Our environment is fast paced and dynamic and providing academic support can be hard work. You can definitely expect days in which there’s a gargantuan amount of work to get done in a limited amount of hours. With that said, what makes our culture amazing is that everyone is willing to help with any task because we are all working towards the goal of helping these girls be amazing superpowered individuals.

Desired Experience & Education*

• Potential Background Options: Degree in Education, M.Ed in curriculum design with a specialization in Curriculum and Instruction, Curriculum Design, Educational Leadership, Instructional Theory, Instructional Technology or a relevant field
• Demonstrated Experience with curriculum development and design
• Classroom and instruction experience
• Licensed/certified teaching professionals

• Background in social justice, community organizing, public policy, advocacy, social studies, history or other related fields
• A familiarity with current research and best practices related to curriculum development, instructional pedagogies, and assessment
• Demonstrated leadership experience
• Comfortable with collaboration and feedback
• Strong time management skills
• Works well independently

Essential Duties, Responsibilities & Requirements

• At the direction of the Curriculum Managers, work with Subject Matter Experts and/or other technical experts to create curriculum with the following components: Unit Map, Lesson Plan, Class Handouts, Unit Materials, Student Notes, Unit Reviews and Unit Assessments.

• Identify multimedia supplemental materials such as podcasts and digital content to support curriculum
• Collaborate with and take direction from Curriculum Managers to refine curriculum
• Base curriculum is provided and your role would be to assist in building out the curriculum for daily use
• Create additional study materials for end of unit assessments via Quizlet

Position Specifics

• This position is fully remote and volunteer. This position requires 8-10 hours a week.
