The Role

Technology and Transformation, (T&T), is a department that operates as an Agile team that simplifies, differentiates, innovates and delivers for Suncorp. We design unique and innovative insurance and banking product solutions and technology platforms that deliver value for our customers.

A skilled Software Engineer is needed to join a high performing development team in Claims Technology within T&T. Your role will provide systems analysis, design, development, maintenance & ongoing support for Suncorp’s Claims management applications. You will be an active contributor to the Agile software development lifecycle and be familiar with DevOps/Continuous Integration and production deployment processes. The role will also include systems analysis, design, development, maintenance & ongoing support to ensure that the quality of the solutions you produce meet the defined needs relative to Suncorp’s data environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Highly proficient in delivery of technology projects delivering value using Agile and DevOps methodologies
• Analyse system requirements and develop technical design
• Develop and maintain application software
• Support the application software by analysing and fixing problems as required
• Perform unit and integration testing on developed code
• Provide technical advice to the business customers on business opportunities
• Identify technical improvements that will benefit the business
• Provide input to or develop business systems solutions, estimates and specifications

Skills & Experience

• Minimum 3+ years of software engineering experience
• Experience supporting high availability production systems
• Demonstrated experience with Agile SDLC on projects
• Experience in Cloud Technologies is favourable
• Proven Testing skills and ATDD or Behavioural Driven Development
• Intermediate level of skill and experience in the following technologies:
  • Java, GScript, JIRA, Confluence, Haml, Source control systems, Continuous integration tools
• Experience working in an agile development/delivery environment
• Experience with DevOps processes and Cloud services (AWS)
