The Science Curriculum Specialist is primarily responsible for creating and maintaining student and teacher materials, both in print and online. This position is for the design and development of 4th-grade curriculum.

Work Location: Full-time Remote

This position was originally posted as an in-office position, but we are now considering 100% remote candidates.

Responsibilities

Primary Tasks –

• The curriculum specialist provides the vision, direction, and content ideas for the development of grade-level curriculum
• Creates new materials, activities, and assessments for Students and Teachers for print and online
• Designs curriculum by building new publications through the analysis of existing materials and determining what can be reused and what new materials are needed.
• Works on the development teams to ensure all materials are on schedule and appropriate for the grade level and age of students. This includes text, video, images, illustrations, and more.
• Utilizes Studies Weekly processes and software to ensure the timely development and quality of products throughout the development pipeline.
• Other duties may be assigned as needed

Job Requirements –

• This position requires a self-starter, someone who takes ownership of their work and doesn’t have to always be directed.
• Elementary teaching experience (3 years minimum preferred)
• Education certified (elementary or related disciplines)
• Experience with early childhood developmental practices (theory, pedagogy)
• Demonstrable experience with standards, curriculum design, creation of resources
• Strong background in science content at the elementary level.
• Ability to create lesson plans against state standards.
• Knowledgeable about the Next Generation Science standards and associated strategies (phenomenon-driven pedagogy, Engineering Design Process, 3-Dimensional Learning, etc.)
• Have a passionate desire to help elementary-aged students learn science
• Willingness to think out-of-the-box and find innovative ways to engage students in science
• Works well with others in a dynamic office environment
• Team collaboration skills (willingness to talk, share, work together towards common goals)
• Regular and predictable attendance is required

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree: Masters preferred
• Curriculum design experience
• Minimum of three years as an elementary teacher
• A passion for science education is a must!

Interview Process –

We typically ask candidates to submit a short video responding to some basic questions about teaching. Additional steps include video conference interviews and a sample lesson plan based on a national science standard that we provide.

Physical Demands –

The employee is required to talk and hear. Often, this position requires the employee to stand, sit, bend, stoop, crawl, kneel, ascend and descend stairs. Also to reach with arms and hands, and use hands and fingers to feel, handle, and manipulate keyboard keys. The employee is also required to lift up to 20 lbs. The employee is required to travel periodically on company business by plane, car, or other transportation.

Pay: $55,000.00 – $75,000.00 per year
