Stryker is seeking to hire a Staff Mechanical Engineer to support Stryker’s Neurosurgical division. This candidate will support development of new products. This role is hybrid, and candidates will work in Kalamazoo, MI. Neurosurgical | Stryker

WHAT YOU WILL DO

As a Staff Mechanical Engineer, you will have the opportunity to develop and own the mechanical design of products used in Spinal and Cranial procedures. You will work with the powered instruments team. This is a global team working to produce the next generation of neurosurgical instruments. You will be a hands-on contributor in taking products from idea to launch.

Other responsibilities include:

• Design and launch innovative new medical devices.
• Be the technical lead for a multifunctional project team.
• Liaise with surgeons to define user needs and ensure the product meets and exceeds expectations.
• Mentor and guide more junior team members, modelling high standards of professionalism in all interactions.

WHAT YOU NEED

Required

• Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or BioMedical
• 4+ years of work experience including new product development.

Preferred:

• Experience in mechanism design.
• Experience with motor design or drills.
• Experience in a highly regulated industry.
• Strong technical ability to develop and optimize designs for mechanical / electro-mechanical assemblies incorporating DFM principles.
• Strong technical ability in creating engineering drawings, models, applying GD&T and CAE tool.
• Adept at applying knowledge of materials and manufacturing processes to product design.
• Ability to communicate moderate complexity plans and technical information to team members.
