We are currently seeking a Sr. Staff Engineer – Robotics System Application Design located in Weston, Florida.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

• Work on the system aspects of the Mako 3 robotic platform.
• Lead design initiatives to modify software applications and meet the company quality goals and expectations.
• Create, revise, and manage product requirements.
• Evaluate the system design’s overall effectiveness, reliability, and safety.
• Interact with internal customers and marketing to draft customer and system requirements.
• Coordinate with mechanical, electrical, software, and system engineers to ensure that the system and subsystems designs meet specified requirements.
• Analyze system and subsystems requirements to ensure they are clear and verifiable.
• Ensure that traceability of requirements is accurately captured and documented.
• Handle post-market complaints for the application software.
• Collaborate on verification and validation (V&V) for the system, subsystems, and components.
• Collaborate in the development and execution of plans, protocols, and s for V&V.

• Use common software tools, such as SolidWorks for CAD/CAM, Minitab for statistical analysis, and MATLAB for analysis through scripting.
• Apply FDA regulatory guidance, such as ISO 13485 / 14971 / 62304, to biomedical device development.
• Participate in engineering labs for determining product requirements and for V&V activities.
• Collaborate with Quality Assurance in analysis for the device risk management file, including application failure modes and effects analysis (AFMEA) and fault tree analysis (FTA).
• Collaborate with technical writers to create and revise user-facing documentation.

WHAT YOU NEED:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Biomedical Engineering.
• Minimum of 6+ years’ professional experience in systems design or related field, preferably for biomedical device development.
• System integration and verification experience.
• Complaint handling experience.

The following skills are strongly preferred:

• Requirements management tool, such as JAMA, Integrity, or DOORS.
• 3D CAD/CAM software, such as Solidworks or similar package.
• Scripting and analysis using MATLAB or similar package.
• Statistical analysis with Minitab or similar package.
