The Role:

This position will lead across all financial control aspects for the UK business and be the local expert adviser for accounting and tax issues, ensuring both compliance and valued input into commercial decisions. This role reports directly to the Finance Director UK and requires a strong partnership with the UK Business Controller, EU SSC, EU Tax team and core Corporate Accounting and Tax functions.

Key Activities and Accountabilities

• Manage and set direction for the Accounting/Accounts Receivable teams, 10 direct reports including 7 on the AR team and 3 on the Accounting team.
• Coach, mentor and supervise team members
• Lead Controllership activities across UK operations, ensuring accounting and tax compliance
• Drive best practice processes and analysis to ensure efficient, effective and risk focused assessment of both formal submissions and adhoc analysis
• Responsible for country financial statements including corporate accounts, Statutory reports and tax returns.
• Ensure accounting books and records comply with relative policies and legislation
• Build strong relationships with Business Controllership/ Finance Partners and key business stakeholders.
• Primary ‘day to day’ contact for HMRC and third party advisers; actively seek out best practices
• Actively monitor and assess the internal control processes to ensure they remain fit for purpose and are aligned with the changing risk profile of the business practices and environment. Challenging the status quo.
• Responsible for maintaining the Sarbanes Oxley and Tax control frameworks, risk matrices and related narratives. Continuous review of the control frameworks for effectiveness and efficiency including risk identification and mitigation
• Prepare deliverables for all internal and external audits, and manage the audits accordingly
• Ensure active review of end to end business processes to address root cause problems that create business inefficiencies
• Develop KPI dashboards using big data to drive business performance
• Represents the function on organizational project teams, at management and certain board meetings, in the corporate governance committee and with external organizations
