Job Title: Student Wellbeing Co-ordinator
Responsible to: Head of Student Services
Job Purpose: To contribute to and implement outstanding student engagement that ensures that our learners enjoy the social and personal development opportunities Strode has to offer, and get the support they need to achieve their ambitions. You’ll also be responsible for delivering a wellbeing programme that gives helps students develop resilience, improves their understanding of both physical and mental health issues and prepares them for their next steps. You’ll ensure that students have plenty of opportunities to participate in clubs, societies and charitable endeavours
You will lead a small team including our Student Support Officers, Counsellors, Student Finance Officer and College Chaplain, ensuring their work is effective and also take an active role within the Safeguarding Team.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities:
· To ensure delivery of an annual programme of wellbeing related activities and campaigns that build students’ resilience and understanding of how to look after their mental and physical wellbeing effectively · To engage with local community organisations and initiatives to build opportunities for students to participate in events and volunteering opportunities. · To promote the work of the team and ensure students understand how to access support both within and outside the College as needed · To support teaching staff to identify an early deterioration in a student’s physical, mental, emotional well-being with a view of sustaining a high level of attendance and a positive outcome.
· Keep informed of current legislation, statutory and non- statutory guidance in regard to child and adult protection, Prevent and general safeguarding
· Act as a source of support for the wider safeguarding team, monitoring caseloads in partnership with the Head of Student Services, and escalating concerns to the Designated Safeguarding Lead where appropriate
· To develop and improve means of capturing the views of learners and ensure that these are fed into the relevant areas · To support students to set up and run clubs and societies that meet their areas of interest and ensure that groups continue to run as each year of students moves on
· To co-ordinate and support curriculum led enrichment opportunities
· To co-ordinate charity events across the College and encourage students to lead on these
· To contribute to the ever evolving Future Skills Tutorial Programme to ensure that it links seamlessly with relevant events, themes and activities.
· To ensure that student financial support is fairly and appropriately awarded in line with funding guidance.
· To contribute to the maintenance of a high retention rate by engaging students in events outside of their curriculum · To work with colleagues to maintain the safety and wellbeing of students whilst in the college environment. · To attend Open Evenings to promote and raise the college’s profile within the community · Any other reasonable duties commensurate with the role and with the skills of the post holder as agreed.

Education / Qualification
· Level 2 Safeguarding qualification
· Designated Lead Safeguarding Training or willingness to complete prior to appointment

Terms and Conditions:
1 This post is for 37 hours per week, term time plus 2weeks
2 The salary is £24,167 per annum pro rata (actual salary £20,663 per annum)

4 The post is subject to a six-month probationary period. This is seen as essentially a supportive time however, unsatisfactory performance may lead to termination of contract. During the probation period the postholder must successfully complete mandatory training units including Safeguarding, PREVENT, Health and Safety and Equality, Diversity and Inclusion.,
5 The appointee will be brought automatically into the Local Government Pension Scheme. Contributions are 5.8% of salary.
6 It is a condition of appointment that the salary will be paid directly into a bank or building society account.
7 Sick leave will be in accordance with the procedures laid down by the Strode College Board of Governors.
