The Educational Content Specialist – Secondary CTE (ECS-SEC CTE) is responsible for contributing to the success of the curriculum strategy for Strivven Media as developed by the Content department which will impact the development and growth of all aspects of our educational career readiness products and services. The ideal candidate will have extensive 6-12th classroom teaching experience, as well as experience as an instructional designer, preferably in career technical education.

The Educational Content Specialist – Secondary CTE should have a passion for planning, research, and writing, while bringing drive, creativity, and commitment to creating exceptional content and curriculum that aligns with the growth of the company. The ECS-SEC CTE will work collaboratively with members of our growing Content department alongside other content specialists, graphic artists, and video producers. Additionally, this position will work effectively with key members of all teams, including Development, Marketing, Account Management, Sales, and Customer Service. Every attempt is made to identify Content Department priorities for this role so that work activities are aligned with departmental priorities. The role requires the ability to work flexibly and be receptive to “other duties as assigned” on a continual basis due to its interdepartmental nature.

Key Responsibilities

Planning

• Investigate, propose and collaboratively develop content features and resources specific to meeting the needs of educators (in general) and secondary-level CTE educators (in particular) across a variety of settings.
• Develop short and long-term curriculum strategies to support the continued growth and development of company products targeting needs of CTE professionals.
• Review existing content and features and propose content enhancements to support the implementation of learning solutions in demand across CTE programs.
• Participate in weekly discussions with other departments to prioritize works.
• Engage collaboratively in ongoing prioritization process and work within Content department goals and project priorities.

Research

• Conduct research to inform Development of changing standards, industry need and trends in the CTE space, and consult with key collaborators within the organization and beyond as directed. This may include conference travel and the development of key partnerships with outside CTE-focused partners.

Developing & Writing

• Propose, design, develop, and update content and features to support the success of Teachers K-12 (in general) and features most likely to be used by CTE Teachers (6-12) in particular.
• Support customer implementation by developing supporting digital media content (e.g., FlexLessons Activities) to support implementation by customers.
• Evangelize CTE-related needs and benefits in the Content Department and across all departments by contributing positively to the learning needs of colleagues.
• Advocate for solutions to remove barriers and enable equitable access to career exploration across all customer groups.

Presenting

• Propose topic, design, and potentially deliver Customer Development Workshops and/or Events to support professional learning of educators (in general) and of Teachers in grades 6th-12th (in particular) as directed.
• Travel to workshops, symposiums, and/or conferences as needed to present on wide-ranging educational topics impacting our business and in particular for educators K-12 (in general) and for CTE professionals (in particular).

Project Management

• Collaborate cross-functionally within the Content Department to ensure synergy of efforts and learning solutions developed for all customer types – and in particular secondary-level CTE professionals.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with other departments to assess the quality and effectiveness of tools, addresses problems proactively, and escalate issues when necessary.
• Create, manage and maintain appropriate documentation for compliance and copyright of all materials.
• Ensure that content design and projects are completed in a timely fashion and with regard to standard expectations.
• Balance self-directed use of time in conjunction with Content Department agreed upon priorities overseen by the Director of Learning Solutions.

Sales Support

• Serve as an educational specialist with expertise in CTE for account executives.
• Provide critical educational messaging around organizational products and services, as needed, and in particular regarding the benefit of learning solutions relevant to Teachers K-12 (in general) and in particular the needs of CTE professionals in secondary settings.

Essential Qualifications & Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Education (required) with specialization in CTE.
• 5+ years in 6-12 Teaching role (required) with a preference for experience in middle and/or high school CTE program role(s).
• Demonstrated leadership at the school level in CTE program implementation with evidence of curriculum design, implementation, and instructional delivery in and beyond the applicant’s classroom.
• Demonstrated interest in the development of learning solutions for students that address common barriers to success, college, and career readiness.
• Experience with technology and basic software applications (e.g. Microsoft Office Suite, and learning management systems).
• Excellent project management and coordination skills, ability to balance multiple priorities with proven ability to problem solve, anticipate challenges, and maintain a calm demeanor in high-pressure situations.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to establish and maintain effective and collaborative working relationships.
• Strong research and analysis skills using various methods and sources such as databases, academic references, survey and evaluation tools, etc.
• Proactive, self-starter, who can operate independently while also driving towards shared goals.
• Strong commitment to the work and mission of Strivven Media in providing educational content to an array of youth and adult learners.
