Robotics Engineer – Autonomous Perception

StreetDrone is an exciting Oxford-based startup specialising in the development of autonomous technology. We have already released a self-driving car to the world and have a friendly, innovative and driven team working on our next products.

We are quickly growing the business, and working on a number of exciting products, including an autonomous and remotely operated truck as part of a project with a large vehicle manufacturer.

We’re looking for an experienced robotics engineer to join our self-driving software team.

What you will do

• Generate innovative ideas to address technical challenges in mapping, localization, object detection and classification, behavior and trajectory prediction

• Research perception-based and map-based algorithms for self-driving vehicles

• Design and implement safety-critical control algorithms for full self-driving vehicles

• Analyze data from simulation and real-world testing to evaluate system performance

• Debug complex issues involving software components distributed across multiple processors interacting with sensors and physical actuators

Tech Requirements

• MSc/MEng degree in Robotics, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering, or BEng plus 2+ years experience

• 2+ years of practical software engineering experience with C++ or python in a Linux or Unix environment.

• 2+ years working with Robot Operating System (ROS)

• Experience with autonomous systems in one or more of the following areas: 3D environment reconstruction, tracking and prediction, perception, localization, estimation, and machine learning

• Experience working on real-world robot systems in a lab or in industry

• Understand general software development processes

Additional skills

• Experience in ROS2 is a plus

• Experience in Continuous Integration / Continuous Deployment (CI/CD)

• Docker container design and deployment

• Experience on multi-modal sensor fusion for localization and dynamic object tracking

• Experience with robot or sensor calibration

• Good understanding learning based approaches to solving complex problems
