We are now seeking a Finance Assistant on a permanent basis to help us deliver our mission and enable our growth ambitions.
Job Purpose:
The Finance Assistant will oversee the Group’s Purchase Ledger and will also assist the Finance Managers in producing timely and accurate financial information for use in preparation of monthly management accounts. The ideal candidate will have at least two years’ experience in a similar role, have strong communication skills, numerate and be detail orientated.
Main Accountabilities:
Purchase Ledger:
· Manage Purchase Ledger postings
· Perform daily banking reports and weekly bank reconciliations
· Produce payment runs: bi-weekly and on an ad hoc basis
· Set up new Direct Debit mandates / Standing Orders
· Review and process company card expenses, other claims & reimbursements
· Create and post journals for accruals and prepayments
· Reconcile any discrepancies or errors identified by conversing with suppliers and other staff members
Management Accounts:
· Produce intercompany journal postings and reconciliations where necessary
· Assist with month end accounts preparation & analysis
· Set up accounts and migrate opening balances for newly acquired nurseries
· Perform routine calculations to produce ad hoc reports & analysis as requested by Finance Managers & Directors
· Other ad hoc support and duties as required by Finance Team
· Assist in maintenance of accounting system and safeguarding of financial data back ups
Specific measures of success:
· Strong communication: Demonstrates the ability to communicate both verbally and in writing with a wide range of stakeholders including operational managers and external suppliers
· Accurate and timely reporting: Prepares accurate, real time, company positions within 3 days of month end date for presentation to the finance team, operational managers, and Directors
· Perseverance: Demonstrates strong perseverance skills, driving towards accurate supplier balances
Knowledge and Skills:
Essential
A strong understanding of systems and IT
Excel skills including V and H Lookups and Pivot tables
Demonstrates an attention to detail, meticulousness and desire to drive the highest standards
Strong written and oral communication skills
Positive team player with a can-do attitude and willing to work flexibly
Desireable
University degree in a quantitative subject
A good understanding of finance and accounting
Experience using Sage 50
Terms and Conditions:
Salary: paying up to £30K depending on experience
Hours: 40 hours per week Monday to Friday
Holiday entitlement: 25 days per annum FTE, plus all Bank Holidays
