Steve Madden Hiring for SENIOR INTERNAL AUDITOR at Long Island City, New York Full Time

General Summary: This position is responsible for assisting the department with development and execution of financial and operational risk based audits across portfolio (all areas including balance sheet reviews, administration, supply chain, internal controls, and financial transactions). This position will plan and execute financial and operational audits in line with audit process and procedures outlined in Department Manual, as well as associated reporting and working paper documentation

Major Responsibilities:

• Assist in the annual risk assessment utilized by Internal Audit to develop ongoing audit plans.
• Continuously improve the comprehensive risk-based internal audit methodology and execute operational, compliance and financial internal audit reviews in line with the methodology to identify control and operational weaknesses and work with the business process owner to create effective management action plans to address the identified gaps.
• Complete planning, fieldwork and reporting for all audits; complete audit reports and submit to Director/VP for final review before issuance.
• Assess operating effectiveness of internal controls as part of Sarbanes-Oxley compliance.
• Build strong relationships with all key stakeholders, including corporate, operations and finance management, as well as external auditors.
• Promote high levels of ethical awareness and conduct across the company
• Identify compliance risks and areas of improvement and evaluate the adequacy of designed controls, draw conclusions and present findings to management.
• Undertake other tasks or special projects as and when required by management
• Other duties may be assigned

• Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently with proper time and project management skills (e.g., following up on open items, meeting deadlines, etc.)
• Highly organized, detail-oriented and time management skills essential; Ability to work in a multi-task, high pressure environment
• Strong follow-up and completion skills
• Personable and excellent customer service skills are essential
• Under general direction, examines moderately complex information and/or situations and prepares summary, solves problems for self, complex problems are referred to supervisor
• Familiarity and compliance with the International Standards for the Professional Practice of Internal Auditing
• Business writing and presentation skills essential

Education, Licenses, Certificates, Registrations and/or Experience:

• Bachelor Degree in business administration, accounting, finance, or related field
• Three to five years of experience in public accounting or internal audit experience is required
• “Big 4” experience is preferred
• Previous footwear or apparel company experience preferred
• Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) 404 experience is preferred
• CPA or CIA Preferred

The pay range of this position is $85,000 – $110,000. Actual salary will be determined based off candidate’s skill sets, years of experience, and other job-related factors. This range does not include benefits such as health insurance, paid time off, 401K, and additional company benefits.
