We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Junior Software Developer to join our Base Office.

The Junior Software Developer is responsible for supporting the software development lifecycle within Stena Drilling’s digital technology division ‘Stena Evolve’. In close collaboration with the Digital Business Transformation team, the Junior Software developer will implement programmatic solutions to new & existing products & services. Ultimately, you will be responsible for developing a range of software services, from full-stack solutions to micro-services & data pipelines.

Some of the duties and responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

Software Development

  • Design and develop software solutions, in accordance with guidance provided by the Ecosystem Architect
  • Ensure that all code meets standards, and that proper process is followed
  • Ensure the controlled use of source control system
  • Aid Project/Product teams in breaking down functional requirements into explicit programming tasks
  • Assist Project/Product teams in task/artifact estimation during sprint planning
  • Participate in the development and curation of ecosystem assets
  • Design, implement & maintain software solution diagramming & documentation
  • Implement new software development procedures
  • Maintain & update existing software development procedures

Operations

  • Diagnose bugs and offer solutions
  • Ensure deployment pipelines are running efficiently & report on performance
  • Work closely with operational teams to improve products feature-set

Business Transformation

  • Promote team development & instil a culture of continuous learning
  • Support agile ceremonies & implement learnings from retrospectives
  • Assist project teams with effective Agile, Scrum, Lean & DevOps practices.
  • Any other duties as required by the Ecosystem Architect

Suitable applicants should ideally have:

  • BSc/ BA in Computer Science, Engineering or relevant field
  • Agile (DSDM) Foundation
  • Knowledge of Software Development, Enterprise Architecture, Microservice Architecture
  • Azure Fundamentals
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
