Kindergarten Assistant, Part-time (0.5-0.7 FTE)

Aurora School is located in Bowral, NSW. We are a small, young, rapidly growing, Pre-K to Year 9 school with a single stream class structure for K – 4 and composite classes in the older years. We are working toward delivering the International Baccalaureate for Years 11 and 12 from 2023. Aurora Southern Highlands Steiner School is seeking a dedicated Kindergarten Assistant who can work with a spirit of collegiality to further build the Early Childhood program in our school in a way that allows for the healthy development of students. Aurora staff work collaboratively and professionally with a strong focus on student learning and a love of children. This is a unique and exciting opportunity to join our current dynamic school.

The part-time (0.5-0.7 FTE) position involves general classroom assisting, including support for children with additional needs, help with preparing and serving meals, attending staff meetings and seasonal festivals, and craft skills will be helpful for mending or creating toys. The successful applicant will show a strong interest and commitment to learning the specificities of early childhood education in a Steiner school.

The role is a part-time role with regular shifts across Monday to Wednesday, or Monday to Thursday. There may be the occasional increase in days or hours when needed to replace other staff. The position will commence from Term 4, with training to commence at the end of Term 3 if possible.

Working with Children Clearance is essential.

Classroom assistant qualifications or experience in Early Childcare or Kindergarten, First Aid and Anaphylaxis training, and Steiner Education experience preferred.
