After-school Care Assistant

• Part-time – 4 days / week
• Over 40 weeks
• Commencing Term 3

Sophia Mundi Steiner School is seeking an attentive and motivated person to assist in our small, 15 place After-school Care service. This is a part-time position over 4 afternoons, from 3 – 6 pm Monday to Thursday.

In keeping with the ethos of the school, the Aftercare programme provides physical and creative activities, wholesome food and a warm, home-like atmosphere where educators support children to develop social skills and a sense of community.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide support to the Co-ordinator
• Help to build strong relationships with children, colleagues and families,
• Create a warm, safe and welcoming environment
• Create fun and engaging activities for the children
• To assist in food preparation and keeping a clean and tidy space

Essential Requirements:

• Completed a Cert-3 in Children’s services or currently completing a Diploma of Children’s Services, Early Childhood, Education Support or Bachelor of Education or equivalent. To see if your qualifications are approved: https//www.acecqa.gov.au/qualifications/nqf-approved
• Have a current Victorian Employee Working with Children’s Check (or VIT Registration)
• Child Protection Training or willing to obtain
• Food Handling Certificate or willing to obtain
• Current First Aid, Anaphylaxis and Asthma Certificates HLTAID004 (including valid CPR) or willing to obtain

Desirable

• Experience with Additional Needs Children
• Experience or interest in Steiner Education
