We are looking for a passionate and experienced individual to fulfill a new role to the organization. This role has the potential for a big impact on how we operate our business and our ongoing success. You should have a passion for building products that customers love. You will lead a talented group of developers to research, design, build, integrate and train users on a variety of off-the-shelf software, custom software and legacy systems. Ultimately, you’ll help us build, manage and roll-out products that deliver value to our internal and external customers.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
Reporting to the IT Manager, you will be responsible to lead the software development team, working closely with them to integrate, architect develop and deliver amazing applications on-time
Actively participate in our coaching culture, meeting regularly with direct reports, and your own leader, for 1-on-1 coaching sessions
Provide technical expertise and leadership to the development team
Work with our internal and external partners to research, gather and translate requirements into elegant, meaningful solutions
Use a mix of off-the-shelf products (with a lean towards FOSS) and custom development to set-up, integrate, customize and help train end-users
Manage relationships with internal and external partners
Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation and training materials
Translate end-user needs into detailed requirements and prototypes
Gain a deep understanding of end-user experience, identify and fill product gaps and generate new ideas that grow trust improve customer experience and drive business success
Create buy-in for projects at all levels of the organization
Help scope and prioritize activities based on business and end-user impact
Help communicate project status to all levels of the organization
Help drive an Agile delivery methodology
Research, test and evaluate off-the-shelf software packages
Develop integrations, customizations and beautiful custom solutions by following coding and security best-practices in a mixed, but MS heavy, environment
WHAT YOU WILL NEED
Ability to lead a team of developers working towards a shared vision
Strong coaching or mentoring skills
Strong problem solving skills and willingness to roll up one’s sleeves to get the job done
Skilled at working effectively with cross functional teams
PMP / PRINCE II certification is a plus
Solid organizational skills including attention to detail and multi-tasking skills
Excellent client-facing and internal communication skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
In-depth knowledge of .NET development including C#, MVC, Razor, Blazor, etc. OR In-depth knowledge of a modern language like PHP, Ruby, or Javascript and a willingness to learn the .NET environment
Experience developing and maintaining internal APIs
Excellent knowledge of SQL and db/query optimization
Experience with third-party libraries and APIs
Aggressive problem diagnosis and creative problem solving skills
Familiarity with agile is a plus
Excellent analytical skills with a good problem-solving attitude
Ability to perform in a team environment have a passion for crafting quality solutions.
Post-secondary education in Computer Science or relevant field
Proven experience managing projects in a professional setting (as a project manager, developer, team lead, etc.)
Proven work experience as a software developer
Experience managing a team of direct reports
Experience coaching or mentoring in a professional setting
