What You’ll Do:

You don’t have to know a lot about agriculture, you’ll learn that on the job! You just have to have a willingness to learn and a desire to devote your skills to a greater purpose. This position is responsible for:

• For the Ohio Department of Agriculture’s Office of Information Technology possesses a considerable technical knowledge of software development and receives direction to design and perform systems analysis, recommend application solutions and/or tests and corrects programs as it relates to testing and implementation and assists with documentation

Web Design/DB Visualizations:

• Analyzes user needs and existing functions & incorporates needs into meaningful web applications and/or computer applications using various development stack tools: (e.g., VB.net, ASP.net, MVC 5.0, OWIN, C#, JSON, AJAX, JavaScript, JQuery, HTML5, CSS, & Bootstrap) and Microsoft SQL Server as the RDBMS
• Provides data analytic support by developing custom data visualizations and s using analytic tools: (e.g., Tableau and Power BI)
• Provides web solutions to interface databases with Ohio Department of Agriculture’s (ODA) website or IOP portal (e.g., customer licensing portal, internal dashboards, document scanning, ecommerce ordering and payment functionality)
• Updates and monitors web pages for accuracy
• Converts forms &/or documents to allow online viewing or updating (e.g., Form.IO, HTML, PDF, ASP, ASPX)
• Consults with users to transform concepts, business processes, and verbal instructions into finished products
• Tracks work activities & documents tasks for assigned projects
• Designs and modifies SQL Server database tables, indexes, views, stored procedures, triggers, data transformation services and functions
• Interviews customers for needs assessments and advises of appropriate technology for use in given situations
• Provides flowcharts, data diagrams, and other documentation to aide in representing desired product deliverables to users
• Creates test plans and conducts testing to monitor and track product functionality
• Organizes and assists customer in testing products
• Maintains system documentation
• Completes customer change requests &/or system enhancements
• Prepares training manuals for user operation and maintenance
• Provides end-user training where appropriate

• Attends meetings and demos with vendors to assist the various ODA departments with purchasing decisions
• Troubleshoots &/or corrects computer-related problems
• Attends seminars and training sessions to remain knowledgeable of new hardware and software technology
• Assists with development of written procedures & information technology operating standards
• Attends staff meetings
• Researches technical manuals to resolve hardware and software related problems
• Performs other technical duties as assigned

This position shall be filled in accordance with the provisions of the OCSEA Collective Bargaining Agreement. ODA bargaining unit members have selection rights before non-bargaining unit members. All other applications will only be considered if an internal bargaining unit applicant is not selected for this position.

Maternity Benefits
