Job Summary
This position assists and provides support to Higher Education and Postsecondary programming. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Provide student supervision and instructor support to facilitate the educational goals of Higher Education and other postsecondary students
Provide support to the Education Director in facilitating the Higher Education program.
Provide departmental support.
This position is located at a Minnesota Correctional Facility and will have contact with students who are incarcerated.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
Applicants must meet ONE of the following three qualifications:
1) Completion of an Associate’s degree or higher from an accredited institution of higher learning;
OR
2) Completion of the equivalent of two years of full-time study (or a minimum of 60 semester credits) at an accredited institution of higher learning; (Note: To qualify by means of #2, you MUST explain how you meet the requirement of #2 in your application/resume. Please include the number of credits you completed with a passing or C grade or better and indicate the type of academic term in which the credits were completed (e.g. semester, quarter, or other). If invited to interview, you will be asked to provide a transcript to verify you qualify by means of #2.)
OR
3) Passing score of 460 points (or higher) on the ParaPro Assessment test AND either a high school diploma or GED certificate. (NOTE: To qualify by means of #3, you MUST include the date you took the ParaPro test and your score, as well as the month/year you received your high school diploma or GED, in your application/resume. If invited to interview, you will be asked to provide a copy of your ParaPro test results/certificate to verify you qualify by means of #3. Other minimum qualifications:
Ability to effectively operate a scanner, photocopy, printer, camera/video, TV, VCR, DVD players/duplicators.
Demonstrated computer skills, including email, calendar, presentation, word processing, database, and spreadsheet software applications (e.g. Microsoft Office or similar); experience with internet navigation, learning management platforms and electronic media.
Organizational skills sufficient to catalog, store and retrieve educational materials, both print and electronic.
Ability to read, speak, and write in English.
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work successfully with a diverse population.
Preferred Qualifications
The following qualifications are strongly desired of applicants seeking consideration for this position:
Completion of an Associate’s degree or higher from an accredited institution of higher learning.
Experience with closed circuit broadcasting.
Experience working in an educational setting.
Experience working in a correctional setting.
Physical Requirements

The selection process may include screening the top candidate(s) on their criminal history, predatory offender registration, offender associations and/or other applicable background information in accordance with Department of Corrections’ policy.
Employment history/reference checks, including incidents of sexual harassment, will also be conducted on the top candidate(s) in accordance with Department of Corrections’ policy. This may include a review of job performance and discipline records.
