Job Purpose and Mission
This role contributes to business success by working in partnership with Support Centre hiring managers, retail directors and acting as a brand custodian and advisor to our licensed business partners in over 40 markets, delivering the full spectrum of resourcing services that attract and retain the very best talent while embracing the Starbucks mission and values.
Summary of Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement the Talent Acquisition strategy for Starbucks EMEA that supports the attraction, assessment and selection of candidates at all levels (up to and including director roles and working with the exec team in Seattle)
- Leads a team of hiring specialists in the UK and who are responsible for developing an effective recruitment strategy with hiring manager, mapping processes, agreeing timescales and budgets to secure the best candidates.
- Use knowledge of and research into the external market in order to anticipate changes and translate these into Talent Acquisition initiatives that support the business strategy.
- Deliver simple, effective and scalable processes that leverage technology, data analytics and external best practice in order to achieve optimal results.
- Ensure candidate attraction, assessment and selection strategies are well designed, targeted and seek to attract the right candidates to support the operational and strategic aims.
- Bring together a strong and diverse talent pipeline incorporating internal and external talent that feeds into key technical and leadership roles and company succession.
- Leverage and develop employer brand and talent attraction strategies to optimise Talent Acquisition both from a cost perspective and to build a diverse external talent bank at all levels (Senior Leaders to Early Careers).
- Continue to build Talent Acquisition capability within the team that benchmarks against world class talent acquisition capability.
- Equip managers to own the high touch points of recruitment in a way that demonstrates our mission and values and delivers a great candidate experience at all levels.
- Advisor and consultant to license business partners to ensure that the Starbucks partner experience is delivering a consistent approach and full potential
- Relationship liaison with external suppliers – driving a strong and competitive PSL and building key business partners to support out TA strategy
- Provide an enriching candidate experience, representing the company culture and providing valuable feedback throughout the recruitment process.
- Selects and manages external recruitment partners, negotiating fair rates with organisations that share in the Starbucks values and guiding principles, and monitors their performance.
- Provides the guidance, advice and coaching to the business to ensure compliance with recruitment legislation framework, constantly delivering continuous improvement in recruitment and selection methods and processes
- Supports with EMEA wide projects including supporting opening new markets – developing the strategy and executing to meet demands for the new business
- Accountable for Seattle relationships to ensure that new global developments are introduced into EMEA region and vice versa; as well as ensuring that the digital interventions such as Linked In relationships and Careers Websites are evolved and ensure a fantastic candidate experience
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
- Proven and inspirational leader of others
- Proven experience of leading a specialist in house talent acquisition team
- Experience of managing volume recruitment campaigns ideally in a multiple retail/service sector business.
- Good working experience across EMEA region and ideally some level of global experience.
- Good knowledge of resourcing techniques including advert response management, on-line recruitment, open days, recruitment fairs etc.
- Good working experience in use of data and story-telling for decision making and influencing.
- Good knowledge of industry trends in hiring and HR in general.
- Good knowledge of employment law in relation to recruitment, equal opportunities etc
- Experience of tracking and monitoring recruitment spend, delivering to key measures of cost hire and time
- Significant experience in an in-house recruiter role.
- Consultant type experience working with teams or businesses to develop their resourcing plans
- Experience of using a candidate’s management system to track information
- Experience in driving change in implementing forward looking technology roadmaps.
- Budget responsibility of resourcing budget
- Intermediate / advanced MS Office suite experience, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint
- Strong organisational skills including proven ability to prioritise work effectively.
- Proven program and change management experience.
- Robust approach to work requiring attention to detail
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Customer focused with a proven ability to deal with people at all levels
- An understanding of the importance of confidentiality in the work environment
- Ability to work on projects with or without guidance
- Ability to prioritise, meet deadlines and multitask in a fast-paced environment
- CIPD qualified or equivalent is desirable
