Test Division Summary
Job Purpose
Collate and deliver financial reports to enable senior executives to track the Standard Bank Offshore Group (SBOG), including its legal entities, products and segments as applicable performance against its strategic objectives. Assist with the development and implementation of the Group’s financial digital dashboard that will streamline reporting deliverables.
Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities
1. Monitor, measure and communicate SBOG results to internal stakeholders and executive management.
Delivering timely, high quality management reporting that provides key insights and aids the decision-making process for SBOG.
Reporting deliverables include:
o Preparation of the monthly flash report submitted to the Group Financial Director that discloses the performance of the various business units and highlights the key performance drivers.
o Analyse relevant financial data to develop key insights for the perusal of senior management.
o Produce all reporting disclosures:
o Detailed Analysis of Financial Reporting (DAFR).
o Analyst Booklet.
o Annual Financial Statements.
o Income Statement and Balance Sheet segmental.
Assist in setting up the planning/white board meetings in order to develop the plan for the Internal Reporting process.
Engaging with the various business units and functional areas in this regard and throughout reporting process.
Being proactive in identifying accounting and reporting issues by regular consultation and discussions with management within business units.
Assist in the preparation and delivery of all variance reports, analysis and commentary on a monthly basis that relates to:
o Month on month variances
o Month on Forecast variances
o Month on Budget variances
o Year-to-date Current Year Actual vs Budget variances
o Year-to-date Current Year Actual vs Prior Year Actual variances
o Year-to-date Actual vs Forecast variances
2. Maintenance and preparation of financial models to produce relevant, accurate and timeous efficient reporting.
Maintain underlying reporting models (including but not limited to excel, Alteryx and PowerBI) to ensure information for SBOG and Detailed Analysis of Financial Results (DAFR) is relevant, accurate and prepared on a timeous basis. This includes suggesting ways to improve models.
3. Key ratio reporting and analysis for Exco, Board of Directors and analyst presentations and documents.
Prepare key ratios and metrics disclosure, supporting schedules, graphs and commentary for detailed analysis of financial results and board packs. The information provided should provide detailed analysis of the drivers of key ratio’s and metrics.
4. Monthly preparation of SBOG finance packs
Preparation of monthly financial packs for SBOG with key performance indicators, summarised income statement, headline earnings per business unit, overview of monthly results and summarised legal entity income statement.
5. Proactively keep abreast of changes in the economic environment, IFRS updates as well as internal reporting requirements.
6. Ensure efficient and effective stakeholder engagement
Proactively develop relationships with key internal stakeholders relevant to the business to ensure accurate presentation of SBOG results.
7. Liaison with external auditors
Liaising with external auditors at year end to ensure all audit queries are timeously addressed.
Preferred Qualification and Experience
Qualifications
Qualified ACCA/ACA/CIMA or Chartered Accountant registered with the South Africa Institute of Chartered Accountants (SAICA)
