Ward 33 is a 23 bedded orthopaedic trauma ward. It is a busy fast paced forward thinking ward within a diverse directorate, working collaboratively across the Orthopaedic Department.
Our patient population varies from frail and elderly patients who may present with delirium, and a range of acute medical conditions to our younger patients who have varying orthopaedic needs and complex social backgrounds.
Ward 33 admits patients directly from ED, we also orthopaedic day case patients who present daily to the ward for surgery. Delivering high quality, compassionate, and person centred care is central to the work of the ward.
Successful applicants will join a highly motivated and dynamic multidisciplinary team who are committed to delivering the highest standard of care and continuously improving patient outcomes. The team works closely with medical staff, therapists, and wider support services to ensure safe, effective, and timely care.
The post includes rotational shift working, covering day and night duty, in line with service needs.
Although the post is based in Ward 33, there may be opportunities to gain experience across our Orthopaedic department which also includes, elective orthopaedic ward and a dedicated fractured neck of femur ward.
This role offers an excellent opportunity to develop clinical skills, experience multidisciplinary working, and contribute meaningfully to the care of a complex and rewarding patient group within a supportive team environment.
Candidates with experience or a genuine interest in delivering person centred care and having a acute clinical background would be advantageous; however, full training and support will be provided.
Applicants must be able to work effectively under pressure and demonstrate the resilience required to cope with the constant and sometimes competing demands of a busy acute ward environment. Excellent communication skills are essential in order to help facilitate timely admissions of patients and participate in discharge planning to maintain patient flow within our busy ward.
