SUMMARY

Our construction company is looking for an Excavator Operator to move dirt and other materials on the job site. Our ideal candidate has completed a relevant apprenticeship, but we consider all individuals possessing the appropriate skillset. You must be able to coordinate and collaborate with other workers and supervisors on-site, so clear communication skills are crucial. You should have the skills to operate most pieces of heavy equipment, such as a loader, dozer, or backhoe. Trucking experience, including experience with both driving and loading and unloading materials, is also a plus.

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Operate heavy equipment to move, load and grade earth, rock, gravel or other materials during construction

• Unload excavator in the appropriate area
• Coordinate with other workers to determine dig sites
• Conduct routine maintenance on your equipment

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

• High School Degree or GED certificate
• Ideal candidate will have a valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL)
• Successfully completed a 1-2 year apprenticeship program or some college or industrial course on heavy equipment operating and on-the-job training
• Experience working with Excavators or Heavy Equipment
• Experience working on construction sites, mines, logging facilities or cargo bays
• Expertise in maintaining heavy machinery or excavators
• Experience interpreting drawings, blueprints or designs for the project

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

• Technical knowledge of how to properly use equipment needed for the job
• Expert knowledge of the types of materials being moved, dug, loaded or unloaded
• Excellent oral communication skills with close attention to detail
• Knowledge of how to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, designs
• Understanding of how to conduct pre-operational checks on equipment and how to maintain them
• Understanding all safety requirements for the job site
