About the Role
You will be responsible for the ongoing professional development of nursing staff working across the Renal Service at SVHM including those within structured programs such as pre-registration placements, graduate nurse programs, pathway to specialty practice and postgraduate nursing programs. The Renal PDN will ensure best practice by providing ongoing education and support for all nursing staff achieved by implementing clinically based education using the principles of Evidenced Based Practice to improve the delivery of nursing care.
Facilitation of Postgraduate Program and clinical support of participants in working across the various sites within the Renal Service (including the Dialysis Unit at St Vincent’s and St George’s and the renal ward, 10 East).
Facilitation and clinical support of Graduate Nurse Program & Pathway to Specialty Practice program participants within the Renal Service
Facilitation of Pre-registration nursing clinical placements within the Renal Service
Facilitation of practice development of all nursing staff in the Renal Service
Classifications for this position will range from YZ7-YZ8 ($107,120 per annum) pro rata.
Your Contribution
Registered in Division 1 with the Australian Nursing and Midwifery Board and current Practicing Certificate.
Bachelor of Nursing
Postgraduate Certificate level in Clinical Nursing (Renal) –or higher qualification.
Current National criminal history check, or willing to obtain

About the Education & Learning Department
Education and Learning is a multi-campus unit overseeing the education of staff across St Vincent’s.
St Vincent’s Hospital Renal service provides care for patients across the entire spectrum of renal disease, from the ambulatory care of those with CKD to meeting the dialysis and transplant needs of those with ESKD. SVHM is known as a hub provider of renal services supporting a number of regional and rural satellite as well as in-centre renal dialysis facilities.
The service is a transplanting Hub, with a strong research focus and is committed improving quality of life for patients with chronic kidney disease. Our dialysis service comprises haemodialysis (acute and chronic), home dialysis (home haemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis) with the service currently providing medical support for 300 patients undergoing maintenance dialysis and 310 patients with CKD stage 4/5 (all approaching ESKD and dialysis) state wide.
