St Philip’s Christian College, Newcastle is seeking a dedicated, dynamic, passionate and highly-skilled Christian to join our Finance Team.

As an experienced Accountant, you will assist the Business Manager with the accounting responsibilities required to successfully and efficiently manage this very busy K-12 school.

General duties may include:

• Develop, promote and maintain the ethos and vision of the College
• Management and processing of Income from various sources
• Reconciliation of Credit Card Statements
• General Ledger reconciliations and journal entries including accruals.
• Management of Accounts Payable and Commercial Debtors
• Reconciliation of Liability accounts including Suspense/Contra, GST, PAYG, FBT
• BAS calculations (GST and PAYG)
• Assist in the preparation of various Government, Commonwealth and State reporting i.e. Census
• Bank Reconciliations
• Fixed Assets Register additions, disposals and depreciations
• Assist in the development of annual operating budgets

The successful applicant will be strongly aligned to the values of the College and demonstrate these essential attributes:

• An active relationship with Christ expressed through church involvement
• Tertiary level qualifications in Accounting
• Proficient in the use of Excel, Word and Outlook
• Highly developed attention to detail and analytical skills
• Ability to communicate effectively and sensitively with parents, students, staff, teachers and the school community
• Understand the importance of and the ability to maintain confidentiality in all matters within the College
• Personal qualities of sensitivity, enthusiasm and confidence in an educational business setting
• The ability to consult, negotiate and liaise effectively
• Ability to work collaboratively with Business Manager and finance team
• Previous experience within a school environment is desirable
