St Peter’s Hospice Hiring for Finance Commercial Accountant – Hybrid Working Job at Bristol, England Full Time

This new created role is to partner with our income generation directorate (shops and fundraising) and support these teams in making key business decisions. You will be reporting to our Finance Manager and working closely with our Senior Accountant this role will help to deliver an effective financial accounting service to the Charity; supporting the day-to-day operations of the finance function for ensuring effective financial controls, compliance, and timely preparation of information for budget holders with a focus on supporting our commercial operations.

The details:

• Salary; up to £38,000 per annum dependant on experience
• Working hours 37.5 per week, Monday to Friday
• You will gain experience in a range of finance activities

• Offices based at the Hospice in Brentry (head office where finance team is based) and Long Ashton

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead on operational tax matters for the charity and its subsidiary trading company including the preparation of quarterly VAT returns, annual corporation tax return and monthly gift aid submissions.
• Accurate and timely preparation of journals for both the charity and its subsidiary trading company and reconciliation of balance sheet accounts including intercompany
• Support in the provision of an efficient and accurate financial reporting service including the weekly production of league table reports for our 46 shops and the preparation of reports for external parties.
• Support shops team with stocktake procedures and reporting
• Maintain, develop and support internal financial controls within the Finance function and around the organisation and support internal audit programme of works.
• Support with year-end financial audit preparation including drafting the subsidiary trading company financial statements.
• Be available to support colleagues in project or ad hoc work and provide cover as needed.
• Preparation of banking journals and reconciliation of multiple bank accounts including Ebay, PayPal, Fundraising and Lottery.

What we’re looking for:

• Someone who is fully or part qualified (CIMA / ACCA / ACA) or QBE
• Able to design, maintain and deliver Excel driven reports for internal and external parties
• Experience of month end timetables and processes with proven track record at hitting deadlines
• Comfortable with handling large data sets
• Ability to identify and implement process improvements – challenging the status quo
• Flexible, adaptable and comfortable with ambiguity
• Resilient with ability to work under pressure
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships across a business
