This could be your entry role into finance or for an experienced Finance Assistant looking to support a charity and escape corporate world. Reporting to our Senior Accountant and working closely with our Finance Assistant (Purchase Ledger) this role is help to deliver an effective financial accounting service to the Charity; supporting the day-to-day operations of the finance function.

The details:

• Salary; up to £23,500 FTE per annum dependant on experience
• Working hours 30 per week, Monday to Friday (can be worked over 4 or 5 days, to be discussed at interview)
• You will gain experience in a range of finance activities
• Permanent role
• Potential to offer study support – to discuss at interview
• Offices based at the Hospice in Brentry (head office where finance team is based) and Long Ashton

Key responsibilities:

• Accurate and timely preparation of journals for both the charity and its subsidiary trading company e.g. accruals and prepayments.
• Preparation of banking journals and reconciliation of multiple bank accounts including current, shops and trading subsidiary.
• Maintain and review standing order and direct debit payments and reconcile associated supplier accounts.
• Input and upload of staff expenses.
• Support the charity shops with administrative matters e.g. electricity, rent and rates.
• Actively supporting and demonstrating our values through your role
• Promotion of diversity and gender rights

What we’re looking for:

• Strong communication skills and ability to communicate effectively with colleagues, suppliers and customers
• High level of accuracy and attention to detail
• Highly organised and proactive
• Effective team player – willing to assist other team members to achieve deadlines and objectives
• Intermediate Microsoft Excel e.g. pivot tables and sumifs
• Good numeracy skills
• Flexible, adaptable and comfortable with ambiguity
• Resilient with ability to work under pressure
