About the School:
St Paul’s Anglican Grammar School is an independent co-educational school with campuses in
Warragul and Traralgon. The Warragul Campus is a K-12 school situated 100km to the east of
Melbourne and the Traralgon Campus is situated 175 km east of Melbourne and is a K-10
school, expanding to Year 12 by 2027.
Primary Purpose:
The Director of the Early Learning Centre (ELC) is responsible for the day to day running of all
ELC programs. These programs operate within the Early Years Learning and Development
Framework. The positive promotion of the ELC and the delivery of quality programs inspired by
the Reggio Emilia philosophy (promoting a strong image of the child, with staff, parents and the
St Paul’s community) will be fundamental to this position.
Position in Context:
The Director of the ELC is responsible to the Head of Junior School, who in turn reports directly
to the Deputy Principal.
It is the responsibility of the Director of the ELC to oversee all learning and teaching programs,
communicate with all parents of Early Learning Centre students, in relation to any concerns or
matters relating to their child. The Director of the ELC is also responsible, in conjunction with
the Head of Junior School and ELC Compliance Officer, for managing all matters of policy and
compliance for the centre. The Director of the ELC will also be expected to promote and
publicise Early Learning Centre special events, contribute to Open Mornings and information
sessions and identify any opportunities to further attract enrolments to the school. The Director
of the ELC will demonstrate an awareness of current curriculum trends in early years and have
strong interpersonal skills, with a demonstrated ability to build rapport and interest with both
adults and young children.
The Director of the ELC is responsible for any Early Learning Centre’s staffing and student
issues within all groups in the first instance and is required to exercise judgment in
recommending to the Head of Junior School an appropriate and effective process for dealing
with day-to-day issues. Further, it is the responsibility of the Director of the ELC to communicate
urgently with the Head of Junior School and the Deputy Principal, in relation to any serious
concerns or matters relating to a student or staff member. The incumbent is regarded as a
specialist in the field of Early Learning and will be required to provide current, prompt and
accurate advice on a wide range of educational issues affecting early learning.

Conditions of Employment
This is a 3-year position of responsibility appointment with general conditions being covered
