The Director of Education & Professional Practice is responsible for the development and monitoring of care and standards as they relate to professional practice and the delivery of patient care. The Director reports to the VP-PCS/CNO and provides consultation to the VP-PCS/CNO regarding all aspects of Nursing and Clinical Education & Professional Practice as defined by the Patient Care Services Division, Nurse Practice Standards at state and national levels, and internal and external regulatory standards. The Director contributes to the quality of patient care by overseeing development and implementation of evidenced based educational programs and strategies which enhance and increase professional practice. Responsibilities for project management include but not limited to evidence-based education, role modeling, and quality initiatives. The Director is crucial to the recruitment and retention of competent clinical staff, patient and staff satisfaction, quality improvement, and measured in part, by its impact on the quality of patient care.

Collaborates with directors, managers, and clinical leaders to develop specialty orientation programs, with measurable outcomes and impact.
FINANCE :
The Director is accountable for fiscal performance as it relates to the functioning of the services.
Identifies reasons for budgetary variances for the education department and develops action plans. Ensures effective use of resources, i.e.: staffing, supplies, support services.
Utilizes all resources within established budget and notifies CNE of variances anticipated or occurred in order to maintain department services.
Recommends ways to reduce expenditures and/or enhance revenues without compromising quality of care.
Monitors new-hire orientation, Nurse Residency Program, and other retention tools to provide most appropriate on-boarding within budgetary restraints.
Provides for the establishment of educational activities with a perspective of minimizing expense.
