About St. John Paul the Great Catholic High School:
Nearly 30 years have passed since Pope John Paul II arrived in Denver and in a prophetic word, destined it to be the center of the New Evangelization. Among the many fruits of World Youth Day, the Archdiocese of Denver now welcomes its latest – St. John Paul the Great Catholic High School, (“JPG”).
JPG was born from prayer and dialogue of a community of educators, priests, and laity. Led by an
Independent Board of Trustees, along with an association of priests, the Companions of Christ who desire to serve not just as sacramental chaplains but as teachers in the classroom and fathers of the community.
Through their shared mission, they contribute in a unique way to the evangelization of the students and the cultivation of vocations.
The new four-year high school is a Catholic, independent and co-ed college-preparatory high school rooted in Catholic orthodoxy and Jesus Christ. Under the patronage of St. John Paul II, its classically inspired curriculum will be academically rigorous, especially in the areas of math and science. A robust sports program will accompany formation in the fine arts, adventure in the backcountry, and future opportunities for pilgrimage.
Located within central Denver with ease of access from all directions throughout the Denver area, the high school has been established on an abandoned elementary school campus that had been operated by the
Denver Public School system. Renovations are underway, with Phase I construction to be completed by the late spring 2022. Its inaugural year, 2022-2023, will welcome ninth and tenth grade students, until the school reaches its capacity of grades 9-12 at 440 students. The school is open to all students and their families throughout Denver and surrounding areas.
JPG seeks a dynamic, mission-driven leader to serve as its inaugural president. As President, the candidate will lead the school’s efforts to achieve its mission to inspire and equip students through the Classical tradition of education that fosters faith, promotes academic and athletic achievement and encourages civic responsibility while joyfully pursuing faith, wisdom and virtue.
