SWLP is a partnership between four leading Hospital Trusts – Croydon Health Services NHS Trust, Kingston Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, Epsom & St Helier Hospital Trusts and St. George’s University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, hosted by St George’s Hospital.
The partnership is designed to provide an integrated, high quality pathology service for hospitals and GPs across South West London, by bringing together the best of each Trust’s service and providing them within a single organization. SWLP perform over 18m tests per year for patients across South West London
We are looking for a highly motivated, part (or fully) CCAB qualified individual. The person will deputise for the Finance Manager for SWLP when required and manage the day-to-day operation of the budgetary control cycle for the SWLP Directorate. This will include ensuring month end accruals are routinely raised, reports produced, variances investigated, and budget statements distributed in accordance with Trust Timetables.
The Assistant Finance Manager will also ensure financial enquiries and advice is provided to budget holders in a timely, accurate and reliable manner. Furthermore, the candidate is expected to support the Finance Manager in the budget setting process.
1. To develop and maintain a detailed understanding of the Trust’s processes and procedures and the accounting system relating to budgetary control, including an operational understanding of other Finance functions, e.g. Payroll, Accounts Payable, Procurement, etc.
2. To have a working knowledge and understanding of relevant national accounting standards and an awareness of NHS Financial Initiatives e.g. Payment by Results, Agenda For Change, etc.
3. To assist the Finance Manager in the setting and maintenance of the budget for one or more Trust Directorates, accounting for changes in pay and price levels and the decisions of budget holders.
4. To deputise for the Finance Manager where required including attendance at finance meetings and responding to financial issues.
5. To review and approve the preparation of routine budgeting and financial journals, invoice requests and other accounting transactions relating to one or more Trust Directorates and Corporate Trust wide transactions.
6. To review and maintain the budget holders distribution and authorised signatory lists and cost centre lists for Trust Directorates.
7. To reconcile directorate month end debtors and creditors control accounts.
8. To prepare journals in accordance with Trust policy and procedures, e.g. accruals, internal cross charging arrangements, etc.
