About the Opportunity

SSI is looking for a permanent, full-time Software Developer to join one of our development teams in Victoria, British Columbia. A successful candidate will contribute to the development of innovative solutions for the shipbuilding industry as a member of our team. You will collaborate to solve tough problems and have the opportunity to grow and take on new challenges.

The Position

Responsibilities for this position include working with the rest of the team to adapt custom-off-the-shelf Product Lifecycle Management software (Aras Innovator) to the evolving needs of the global shipbuilding industry. This is a brand new product from SSI, so this position will be involved in development across nearly the full web stack, from Microsoft SQL Server, through IIS, our custom integration software suite, through to Aras Innovator. We are looking for someone who is excited to learn new skills in order to successfully implement features in this technical ecosystem, using Adaptive Markup Language (AML), JavaScript, C#, and occasionally SQL.

As this is a niche product, we do not expect candidates to have experience with all these technologies, and we encourage applications from people who have a solid understanding of the basics of development and a strong desire to learn the specifics in a supportive team environment.

What we look for:
Degree, Diploma or equivalent experience in Computer Science or Engineering

Ability to work and collaborate with a team

Creative problem solving skills

Great to have but not necessary for consideration for this position:

Web development experience

Experience working with Agile methodologies, including test-driven development

Experience working in the Visual Studio development environment

Experience with C# or other modern object-oriented language such as Java

SQL Server or other relational database experience

Experience working on Front-End Web technologies (JS, CSS, jQuery, REST)

Experience with Aras Innovator and Adaptive Markup Language/Aras Markup Language (AML)

Please note: The successful candidate must be willing to work remotely within Canada with the eventual relocation to Victoria, BC, and either be a Canadian Citizen or hold a valid Canadian Permanent Residency or Work Permit.
