Sprout and Spark Preschool Hiring for Classroom Aide Job at Lake Oswego, OR Full Time

Sprout and Spark Preschool is looking for a Classroom Aide who can visit each of our classrooms to provide breaks to classroom teachers and assistance during transition times. This position requires punctuality, flexibility, and attention to detail, as well as a love of working with children at both toddler and preschool ages. Our students are very sweet and outgoing and love to welcome special visitors into their communities.

We offer an innovative program that blends traditional Montessori education with Reggio-Emilia inspired art exploration and free forest play in the natural spaces near our school sites. Our teachers work in teams with classes of mixed age students. In our toddler program students 18 months to 3 years practice the foundations of self care, practical life, and art exploration. Once they are ready for the preschool classroom, toddler students join their peers aged 3-6 for Montessori and Reggio-Emilia inspired curriculum.

All our students play outside every day, rain or shine, exploring the forests, wetlands, and play spaces around our two campuses. Vegetarian group meals are prepared on site daily.

Responsibilities

• Arrive in each classroom punctually to keep our break schedule on track
• Support classroom side work by helping with dishes, laundry, and other cleaning as needed
• Support a creative and responsive curriculum suitable for toddlers and preschoolers
• Encourage children to interact with each other and resolve conflict
• Supervise children to ensure they are safe at all times
• Collaborate with other educators

Skills

• Familiarity with the principles of child development and toddler/preschool educational methods
• Familiarity with safety and sanitation guidelines for classrooms
• Ability to act as mediator between children
• Peaceful, friendly, and reliable
• Certification in child CPR, Food Handling, and the Oregon Safety Set

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Contract

Pay: From $18.00 per hour
