Downer Facilities and Asset Services Group (F&AS) is a leading provider of integrated facilities services with clients across Australia and New Zealand.

The Health and Education (H&E) line of business provides comprehensive operational and maintenance services as well as lifecycle maintenance programs to various sites within primary/ secondary/ tertiary education, hospital and other facilities throughout Australia. The contracts are a combination of education, health and other Public Private Partnerships (PPPs) and non-PPP contracts, including The Sydney International Convention, Exhibition and Entertainment Precinct (SICEEP) PPP which is a 25-year contract.

Based at the Sydney Convention Centre, the Finance Manager – ICC (International Convention Centre) is a member of the SICEEP PPP FM Management Team contributing to the operational and financial performance of all the services required under the Services Specification of the PPP Contract and the Public Realm contract.

Your responsibilities include

• Effective management of the finance and accounting function including internal controls and accounting processes
• Manage the day-to-day financial reporting and have accountability for all revenue and cost lines for the contracts including correct allocation within SAP actual, budgets and forecasts.
• Provide financial support to the Contract Manager, Senior Manager – Finance, General Managers, the Executive General Manager and the wider Health & Education line of business
• Support the contract providing commercial acumen to solve issues as and when they arise
• Maintain and review the “whole of life” (Forecast Cost to Complete) modelling for the contract, reporting on variance from the Forecast Margin and maintaining associated registers
• Accountability over quality of personal and team output
• Ensure risks are accurately identified and contained with mitigation strategies in place
• Contribute to the strategic direction for the business unit in line with the Spotless strategy
• Manage the work performance of self and direct reports to ensure objectives are achieved
• Assist to ensure cost savings, efficiency and productivity is maximised and improved year on year

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have or demonstrate

• Degree in Accounting, Finance and/or Business Finance/ Management
• CA ANZ / CPA membership
• Experience working as a Financial or Management Accountant in a business partnering or support function
• Working with budgets/forecasts, profit and loss, and working capital
• Business Partnering / providing support to business function
• Exposure to complex Facilities Management contracts is preferred
• Strong customer service skills and the proven ability to develop, maintain and influence business relationships at all levels with internal and external stakeholders, partners and suppliers
• Ability to work independently and effectively under tight deadlines; and
• High attention to detail
