Who is this job good for?
Our program has been around for two decades, and it provides an experience that is as fun for campers as it is tiring and rewarding for the adults who try to keep up with them. At SportsTyme summer camp, we’re burning lots of calories as we participate in a vast variety of sports and games every day. You don’t have to be an athlete to work here (most of us aren’t); however, you’ll certainly be on your feet a lot. This job is good for the person who isn’t afraid to let out their inner child and join the fun as kids learn, laugh and play.

What are the times?
Our program typically runs for 8-10 weeks during the summer. You’ll want to check our website for up-to-date information. Camp hours are typically from 7:30am-6pm weekdays (directors work 40 hours per week).

What do the duties include?
The following are given as examples. Basic training is provided. Other duties and responsibilities may be expected of you:

• Leading/instructing/training a team of 2-12 coaches
• Creating work schedules
• Creating daily/weekly activity schedules (curriculum/templates provided)
• Communicating effectively with parents about the progress of their child
• Memorizing and enforcing our program’s general rules and policies, particularly those dealing with safety
• Reciting our discipline procedures and consistently enforcing them with all our staff and campers
• Treating minor injuries and performing CPR if the need arises (training provided by the American Red Cross)
• Instructing very large groups of kids ages 5-13 (camp sizes as small at 20 and as large as 200)
• Leading daily Christian devotionals (curriculum provided)
• Organizing/maintaining sports equipment
• Cleaning tables, chairs, floors and/or bathrooms (or delegating these tasks)
• Effectively communicating with your staff members and closely monitoring their performance
• Following up on customer feedback whether it be positive or negative
• Working closely with camp owners to ensure the best possible experience for campers, coaches, and parents
• Proactively looking for ways to improve the camp experience
• Returning calls and email quickly
• Keeping important deadlines

What is the pay?
Directors are salaried at $900 a week, with additional percentage-based bonuses offered for good camp performance.

What training is included?
At SportsTyme we hire for attitude, character, and the ability to follow instructions. We do not expect our hires to come pre-packaged with specialized knowledge about sports. As long as you have a strong willingness to learn, you’ll find our program an excellent fit. Basic training in our various sports and activities happens before camp starts.
