Associate Evaluator

Position Description

Spectrum Research, Evaluation & Development, LLC works with school districts and other non-profits throughout the country in helping them secure grant funding and evaluate education projects. SpectrumRED is currently looking for a full-time Associate Evaluator to work with funded projects in Alabama and Mississippi. The projects are designed to increase academic, behavioral and other life skills among low-income students and help prepare them to succeed in postsecondary education.

The Associate Evaluator will work with Senior Evaluators in implementing evaluation methodologies with school districts, universities, and other community-based organizations. An understanding of academics (K-12 through university), as well as non-profit cultures is important. Duties include on-sight data collection at schools in Montgomery County, AL for a Gaining Early Awareness & Readiness for Undergraduate Programs (GEAR UP) project; and northeast MS for a Sexual Risk Avoidance Education Program (SRAEP). Data findings will be reported to federal funding agencies, school districts, and other key stakeholders. Candidate must have at least a Bachelor’s Degree (Master’s preferred) in a field related to education and/or evaluation.

• Understanding of statistical analyses/procedures and SPSS or other statistics programs
• Familiarity with district and state student data records/systems
• Familiarity with school policies, systems, and procedures
• Familiarity with basic research designs (both quantitative and qualitative)
• Experienced in preparing surveys, analyzing data, and presenting findings
• Capable of producing professionally written reports including graphs, tables, and charts
• Prior experience working with/on federally-funded projects, particularly evaluating such projects
• Demonstrated project management skills
• Able to effectively support multiple projects simultaneously, and manage priorities while delivering highest-quality work

Primary Responsibilities include…

• Maintain regular communication with Senior Evaluators, Project Directors and other project team members
• Collect data through various means such as observations, survey instruments, interviews, focus groups, student assessments and/or internal databases
• Analyze and summarize data/findings in user-friendly and actionable reports
• Work collaboratively with staff and clients on the use and interpretation of evaluation-related data
• Periodic travel (a few days a month) to northeast Mississippi to conduct on-site observations and interviews
• Develop and deliver presentations to diverse stakeholder groups
