We have an exciting opportunity for an Accountant to join our finance team in Newcastle. Candidates must have a minimum of 3 years’ experience in an accounting role, either through a professional chartered firm or strong commercial background, preferably in professional services.

Reporting to the Financial Controller the Accountant’s primary responsibilities include:

• Managing the month-end close process and the delivery of results to management
• Management and supervision of the firms trust accounts clerks / accountant
• Preparation of quarterly forecasts and support the annual budget process
• Day-to-day GL accounting, including cash management functions
• Statutory reporting including audit engagement and preparation of Special Purpose Financial Statements
• Management of the Fixed Asset register and new finance and operating leases
• Compliance including BAS, annual Workers Compensation, Payroll Tax reconciliations, FBT and Income tax returns
• Working closely with the Financial Controller and Chief Financial Officer on special projects and ad-hoc requests.

The ideal candidate will be CPA or CA qualified and have strong Excel skills with the ability to further develop these skills in a reporting and analytical capacity. A broad skillset across technical accounting, tax, compliance and month end accounting is essential. Prior trust accounting experience would be highly regarded.
