Southwestern Illinois College is accepting applications for one full-time tenure track faculty position in the Administration of Justice and Police Academy programs within the Business, Health Sciences, and Homeland Security division.


POSITION DESCRIPTION

In accordance with the Mission and Values of Southwestern Illinois College, the successful applicant will serve as an instructor in the Administration of Justice (AOJ) and Police Academy programs. The instructor will assist the AOJ Program Coordinator/Academy Director with the planning, evaluation & supervision of the degree and certificate programs. Traditional and online course presentation is required.


QUALIFICATIONS

  • Five years of state, municipal, and/or county law enforcement experience required.
  • Master’s degree or advanced degree in a professionally related area or have the ability to complete an approved master’s degree prior to the completion of the 2nd year of employment.
  • Must obtain approval from the Illinois Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board for supervisory and instructional responsibilities within 1 year of employment.
  • Have served as an instructor in an accredited Law Enforcement or Administration of Justice program at an institution of higher learning for a minimum of three years, preferred.
  • Shall be qualified through education and/or experience and possess proficiency in, but not limited to, the following areas:
  • Curriculum design
  • Faculty & student supervision
  • Instructional methodology
  • Testing and evaluation
  • Outcomes assessment
  • Academic advising
  • Must continue to maintain the professional standards established by the program’s accrediting/regulatory agencies.
  • Knowledge of and ability to use personal computers, applicable software, and Internet required.
  • Shall meet the minimum instructor requirements established by the Board of Trustees for all assigned courses.


STARTING PAY AND HOURS

This is a nine-month teaching position with the salary determined by placement on the base salary schedule. For example, the minimum 2022-2023 starting salary at Step 1 on the Below Master’s degree scale is $48,491. The actual starting salary is determined by educational attainment level and experience. Optional overload and summer teaching assignments may be available, which can increase the annual compensation. The college offers a comprehensive flexible benefits program.

WORK LOCATION

Instructional responsibilities at the Belleville campus with district-wide responsibilities. Driving may be required to reach off-campus sites, visit police departments throughout the region, and to attend professional functions within the state of Illinois.
