K-2nd Grade Teacher

Overview
Southside Academy is a private, Classical Christian school located at Peacemakers of Rocky Mount that currently offers grades K-1 with the addition of 2nd grade for the 2023-2024 school year. We exist to foster hope in God within under-resourced areas of Rocky Mount, NC by providing children with a remarkable and affordable God-centered education. We’re looking for a team of dedicated educators to invest in the spiritual, academic, and emotional well-being of our scholars.

Qualifications/Requirements
Candidates for this position must have a:
● Strong faith in and relationship with Jesus Christ.
● Passion for learning and the gift of teaching.
● Love and calling to see children in an under-resourced community be equipped for future success
● Bachelor’s degree (preferably in Christian Education, Classical Education, and/or Elementary Education).
● 2 years of experience working with children in education (preferably grades K-2).
● Pass the candidate background check.

Expectations
Southside Academy Educators are responsible for engaging in the following:
● Supporting scholars academically, emotionally and spiritually in striving to do their best in the classroom, school and in the community
● Providing a safe, supportive, and nurturing environment for scholars to learn and grow
● Offering the necessary assistance to parents so they can support their scholar’s progress
● Planning and delivering instruction consistent with a Classical model of education and fitting with the curriculum selected by the school
● Engaging scholars in their learning by providing hands-on experiences and opportunities to be active
● Demonstrating a desire to maintain collaborative relationships with colleagues and supervisors through healthy communication methods
● Participating in professional development
● Demonstrating respect for created individuals, including appreciation for diversity of experience and culture
● Being open-minded and fully engaged with scholars each day
● Attending school events consistent with the calendar, may include occasional evening and/or weekend events

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $36,000.00 – $41,000.00 per year
