Alaska Education Specialist
This position is key to daily operations and project execution within AK and in support of region-wide initiatives and reports to the AK State Director. The Education Specialist works closely with their state project team to plan, execute, monitor and continuously improve programming and services related to Annual Service Plans that are co-developed with the Southeast Regional Resource Center (SERRC) and the Alaska Department of Education and Early Development (DEED), focusing on and meeting identified needs. The Education Specialist collaborates with SERRC staff, DEED staff, the regional R16CC team, stakeholders, and consultants to execute projects identified in the state service plan.
The Education Specialist works with the AK project team and regional projects team to identify, develop, deliver, manage and evaluate a portfolio of educational projects from initiation to closing. The Education Specialist is a technical assistance provider and procurer of expert consultants. Technical assistance and consultancy activities may include (but are not limited to): coaching, content consultation, conference or webinar planning, implementation of change initiatives, process facilitation, professional learning, project management, relationship brokering, policy development, resource development or identification, evaluation, and research synthesis. The position provides leadership and technical assistance in the areas mentioned above, and may have specialized expertise in one or more of these areas.
The position prepares or evaluates recommendations for ongoing and proposed programs. Critically, the Education Specialist develops and maintains relationships with Department of Education staff, R16CC staff, DEED staff, and consultants, school leaders, educators, tribal organizations, other education agencies and industry consultants to determine stakeholder needs, plan programming or services, and monitor progress towards stated objectives. The position coordinates marketing and outreach for educational programs and services; prepares and submits various reports; and collaboratively develops and monitors budgets.

This role can be performed remotely but will at times require working from the Juneau or Anchorage SERRC office, so candidates from within Juneau, AK or Anchorage, AK are preferred. There will be in-person interaction once it is safe to do so.
Salary Range:
$32,200 – $52,500 (Depending on experience)

Overview of Region 16 Comprehensive Center:
The Region 16 Comprehensive Center (R16CC) is funded through a US Department of Education grant. Southeast Regional Resource Center (SERRC) is the fiscal agent for this grant. This position is employed by SERRC, as the fiscal agent; however, this position is supervised by the R16CC Director.
R16CC is one of 19 regional centers providing capacity strengthening and technical support in the United States and territories. Each center is charged by the United States Department of Education (US ED) to help state education agencies and their recipients develop and implement state and regional programming related to the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) by strengthening their capacity to better serve and improve educational outcomes for all students, close achievement gaps, and improve the quality of instruction.
R16CC is comprised of three statewide organizations representing 29 Educational Service Districts in Alaska, Washington, and Oregon.
R16CC’s model is unique and is a consortium of partnerships. Each state in our region develops with its partners a state service plan. However, as a Center, we also have common goals and objectives that are a part of our regional service plan. Working together, we will address some of the greatest challenges in education today.
Our mission is to engage state, regional, tribal, school and community partners to improve the quality and equity of education for each student by providing evidence-based services and support in each state and across our region.
