South Wales Police Hiring for Accounting Technician Job at Bridgend, Wales Full Time

An exciting opportunity has arisen to work within the Finance Department for the largest Police Force in Wales and the 7th busiest Force in England and Wales. With a revenue budget of £328m, a four-year Capital Programme of £93m and a major change programme underway, there will be plenty of opportunities to use your financial acumen to make a real difference to policing.

You will be a key player in the Financial Accountancy Team undertaking a varied role managing financial and non-financial tasks. You will be responsible for the following tasks:

• Preparing & submitting our monthly VAT return.
• Keeping abreast of legislative changes to the VAT scheme and implementation of those.
• Completing the monthly accounting entries for the pension scheme.
• Completing balance sheet reconciliations, investigating any discrepancies and the preparation of journals.
• Assisting with Treasury Management and cashflow.
• Inputting & reconciliation of bank/cash transactions.
• Authorisations of sales orders.
• Monthly & Year End Accounts close down procedures, including preparations of working papers & liaison with Audit.
• Supporting & assisting with more complex queries with Debtors/ recharging of police services & the CIS return.

The post will be based in Bridgend however we undertake agile working so part of your working week will be at home.
