SUMMARY:
The Director of Institutional and Programmatic Accreditation is responsible for directing the development and implementation of a comprehensive program to enhance institutional effectiveness and ensure compliance with all accreditation guidelines. This position is responsible to manage various compliance-related projects for the University.
The Director of Institutional and Programmatic Accreditation will support the Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs and Provost in maintaining compliance with the University’s regional accreditor, the Southern Association of Colleges & Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC). The Director of Institutional and Programmatic Accreditation will monitor compliance with all Higher Education Act regulations and coordinate projects with responsible parties. The director will assist with State Authorization related applications and procedures.
KEY JOB ELEMENTS:

• Responsible for monitoring the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) compliance guidelines and educating college faculty and staff regarding compliance issues.
• Serve as South’s SACSCOC Accreditation Liaison and ensures university remains aware and up to date on all compliance related issues.
• Work with Provost, Deans, on drafting and monitoring policies and procedures that align with accreditation standards.
• Supervise and manage the preparation and distribution of reports to meet local, state, regional and national requirements as well as ensuring SACCOCs compliance
• Coordinate all related committees of faculty, administration, and staff to address issues of SACSCOC reaffirmation and compliance issues
• Facilitate and support programmatic accreditation including the pursuit of initial programmatic accreditation.
• Spearhead all institutional accreditation activities (report writing, record keeping, communication with SACSCOC).
• Assist and support Colleges, Schools, and Programs with discipline specific accreditation.
• Serve as the primary reader within the Office of the Provost of discipline specific accreditation reports before they are submitted.
• Provide Provost with a summary report of each accreditation submission
• Provide administrative oversight of institutional accreditation databases (e.g. TaskStream, LiveText, etc.).
• Serve on Provost Council, and other committee councils as directed by the Provost.
• Establish a collaborative working relationship with other University units (e.g. Office of Institutional Research, Office of the Registrar, Admissions & Recruitment, Office of Financial Aid) that provide data relevant to compliance with federal regulations, as reflected through accrediting body standards or directly by federal regulatory bodies.
• Institutional Resource: Act as a resource person and recommend solutions to specific problems for administrators and university offices across the campus.
• Accreditation Support: Develop various means for monitoring compliance with SACS-COC standards. Examples include: monitoring the percentage of courses taught face to face at off-campus instructional sites, evaluating new programs for alignment with the substantive change policy, or conducting routine audits of various institutional policies that are in place to maintain SACSCOC compliance.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Master’s degree required from a regionally accredited college or university with emphasis in areas of regulatory compliance, planning, management, research, records management, or a related field.
• Minimum of 10 years’ experience required in higher education, including experience with accrediting agencies and instructional programs
• Expertise in programmatic and institutional accreditation.
• Experience engaging, managing, and working with the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) or other national accrediting agencies.
• Experience in State and Federal postsecondary education accountability initiatives and trends.
• Knowledge of regional, national, and specialized postsecondary accreditation standards, practices, and goals.
• Knowledge of institutional self-assessments and student outcomes assessment principles, methods and techniques.
• Experience in integrated program planning, development, and administration within an academic environment.
• Experience with University data systems, definitions, and procedures.
• Advanced verbal and written communication skills.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and a demonstrated ability to work with diverse members of the university community including students, faculty, staff, administrators, and accreditors.

ABILITY TO TRAVEL:
The individual must be able to travel out of the local area occasionally on an overnight basis as required to participate in a variety of conferences and meetings.
