ABOUT THE ROLE

• Full time ongoing role
• Salary Band 5: $71,931 + 10.5% superannuation
• Future Hybrid Working Model

An opportunity exists for a Finance Officer to ensure that support is available within the Accounting Team to maintain accurate registers and ensure up to date records for reporting purposes.

This role will be responsible for the preparation of Council’s daily banking reconciliations along with providing support to other staff in the department in order to achieve individual, departmental and corporate objectives.
Key responsibilities include:

• Monitoring and closing outstanding purchase orders.
• Supporting the Senior Payables Officer in the full procure to pay cycle.
• Accounts Payable and Receivable during periods of leave by Senior Payables Officer.
• Supporting the Corporate Accountant in the acquittal of storm events and other natural disaster acquittals.
• Providing support to Responsible Officers in the use of Oracle software application.
• Assist in the development, testing and implementation of system application enhancements.
• Assist in the annual budget process.
• Ensuring the timely provision of advice in relation to management accounting issues.
• Acquitting Council’s Section 86 Committee GST reimbursements.
• Preparation of General Ledger Journals and daily bank reconciliations.
• Assistance with monthly Balance Sheet account reconciliations and assisting with monthly and quarterly reporting.
• Maintenance of Helpdesk system.

ABOUT YOU

To support your success in the role, you will bring:

• Degree or diploma in Accounting or Business with little or no experience or lesser formal qualifications and some finance experience.
• Ability to plan, prioritise and organise work, both on an individual and team basis, within a set timetable and in an environment of change and conflicting demands.
• Knowledge and experience with accounts receivable and accounts payable data input and processing.
• Proficiency in the operation of computerised systems, programs associated with the Windows environment and efficient keyboard skills.
• Well-developed oral and written communication skills and the ability to maintain a high level of attention to detail.
• Ability to working in a diverse team, a demanding environment and tight timelines.
• High quality customer service skills.
• Satisfactory Police Check.
