About the role:

Are you an Early Childhood Teacher who is looking for a professional change of scenery?

We have a casual position available for a qualified Early Childhood Teacher in our Moruya clinic (20 minutes south of Batemans Bay and 30 minutes north of Narooma). Most of your work will take place during school hours with flexibility to meet your existing personal and/or work commitments. You can also choose to work during school terms only if you would like to keep your school holidays free!

You will work alongside our Speech Pathology team to support children aged 0 – 12 years with developmental delays and disabilities, including literacy difficulties. You will be an integral part of our approach to early intervention and assist children to become ready for preschool and primary school.

Support to clients will be provided through a range of service delivery modes including, but not limited to, individual intervention, group intervention, therapy programs, family/carer training, and educator training. These services will be provided in our clinic and/or at a client’s home, childcare/preschool, or school.

We will support, inspire, and encourage you to provide person-centred practice, build families’ and educators’ capacities to support the client, and facilitate community inclusion. You will actively engage with other allied health professionals and community organisations to holistically care for clients, to provide consultancy support, and to facilitate referral networks.

South Coast Speech Pathology (SCSP) is an innovative, private practice based on the far South Coast of NSW. We help paediatric and adult clients living with communication, learning and swallowing difficulties across the Shoalhaven, Eurobodalla and Bega Valley Shires, with clinics located in Nowra and Moruya. We strongly believe in maintaining a community focus and a holistic approach to our clients’ therapy needs. Our vision is to ensure that people living in outer regional and rural areas have access to quality allied health services. SCSP provides services under NDIS, Medicare and Department of Veterans’ Affairs, alongside our partnerships with local primary schools, childcare centres, aged care facilities, and charities. Our Moruya clinic is co-located with Coast & Country Occupational Therapy which allows for multi-disciplinary collaboration and joint therapy sessions. We stay connected virtually with our Nowra clinic via our online networking platform, monthly team meetings and quarterly Team Day.

Our Director, Claire, is a current practising Speech Pathologist with extensive post-graduate experience and knowledge working with paediatric, adolescent and adult disability clients in private practice, not-for-profit and school settings. She has additional post-graduate qualifications in literacy-based learning disorders, and has completed professional development in autism specific interventions, challenging behaviours, paediatric feeding, and AAC. Our current therapy team is passionate about paediatrics, and has a wide range of clinical and life experiences.

About you:

• Recognised degree in Early Childhood Education
• Have, or be willing to obtain: Professional indemnity insurance, Working with children’s check (NSW), Police Check, First Aid Certificate
• Driver’s license and reliable insured car to undertake home, school and childcare visits as needed.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• A desire to work with children and families from a wide variety of socio-economic backgrounds.
• Independent, flexible, organised, and proactive.
• Strong problem-solving abilities.
• Patient, empathetic and share our passion for reducing barriers to accessing early intervention.
• Community-minded and motivated to live and work in outer regional/rural Australia.
• Tech savvy and proficient in the Microsoft Office suite of applications
