Source Solutions are proud to be working with a leading, highly regarded contractor and platinum award investor in people, within electrical infrastructure, a pioneer within reduced carbon solutions and innovator within net zero strategy on a large scale, to identify an experienced Buyer / Procurement professional to take on a strategic Category Specialist role within a highly skilled team.

The Category Specialist will be responsible for procuring, awarding, mobilising and managing ongoing delivery of project contracts and in a more strategic sense, will play a key part in revolutionising procurement delivery within the business, where the ultimate goal is to provide a flexible, customer focused procurement service whilst being reactive to client requirements. 

As Category Specialist you will provide a key customer interface for the wider procurement team, managing procurement enquiries and requests and will deliver a high quality, timely and consistent service, focussing on providing procurement support for our client’s projects. Being customer-focussed, you must be able to deliver innovative solutions to support the business in a cost-efficient manner.

You will be responsible for:

• Managing procurement for the project requirements
• Categories of spend
• Procurement of materials and/or services and managing of ongoing delivery of contracts
• Manage delivery process and implement innovative storage/delivery solutions
• Reactive sourcing activities
• Analysis of active and expiring contracts
• Category analysis and management 

Candidates should possess:

• A degree with focus on procurement, engineering or business studies.
• Previous experience of procurement/purchasing
• Previous experience of a utility/construction/civils projects
• Have a basic understanding of strategic sourcing execution, i.e. cost, price and financial analysis, internal & external market analysis, category strategy, market testing and innovation
• Ability to work in a pressured environment as part of a highly focused team

Desirable also:

• Working towards CIPS qualification or equivalent
• Working knowledge of industry standard contracts, i.e. NEC3
• Working knowledge of SAP and Achilles an advantage
