SUMMARY:
Use accounting background to capture operations of Sooter Consulting Clients per provided Work Order
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Responsible for managing a team of Bookkeepers
a. Accountable for the Quality Control Process of their team
b. Ensure team’s policies and procedures are current
c. Ensure there is redundancy for their team
d. Can perform all necessary bookkeeping functions that the team is doing
e. Responsible for leading/training the team in the 1099 process for the team’s clients
f. File Sales Tax Report as needed
g. Maintains confidentiality of all company, client, employee, and financial records.
2. Understand and perform all necessary payroll bookkeeping functions to support clients
a. Maintain and record Client transactions, utilizing the accountant’s tools available
b. Set up New clients, in multiple states, with/out YTD payroll history
c. Establish strong regimen to never miss varying payroll deadlines. Document policies and procedures
i. Multiple pay dates established by client operations
ii. Communicate all deadlines with the clients, including reminders for needed information
d. Maintain client accrual requirements: sick, PTO, vacation, etc.
e. Assist clients with medical, HSA and other deductions. Use outside payment sites when necessary
f. Review ledger for outstanding information in accounts and contacts clients for clarification
g. Communicate pertinent Information to client about processed payroll
h. Schedule federal/state tax payments
i. Process taxing authority forms in timely manner (ie monthly, quarterly, and annual – 940/941, DE9, DE9C, W2s, etc)
j. Track services requiring additional payroll fees
k. Assist in off-boarding of clients, when needed
l. Investigate and handle special payroll instances as they arise
3. Run regular reports as well as create and run custom reports as needed
a. Create and use Excel documents for revenue spreads
b. Ad Hoc, as directed
Responsible for monthly clarification calls or zoom meetings for their team
c. Provide comprehensive financial updates to clients by evaluating, analyzing, and reporting appropriate data points
d. Provide clients with information vital to decision-making process
e. Report on variances that impact the business

Knowledge and Skills: Solid understanding of GAAP. Advanced knowledge in all areas of Accounting and payroll. Computer skills to include Proficient working knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite, Advanced knowledge of QuickBooks Online (QBO ProAdvisor Required), knowledge Intuit Online Payroll, and working knowledge of social networking tools. Must have prior experience in accounting. Experience in accounting for Insurance industries is a plus. Familiarity with Profit First Principles and Clockworks.
Abilities: Must communicate clearly and concisely both orally and written. Must be a good listener – demonstrating courtesy and care. Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals, offering solutions and options. Leads the work of others. Performs a variety of tasks. Works under general supervision, but a certain degree of creativity and latitude is required. Works independently and as part of a team. Must have advanced computer skills. Must have 3 years of prior experience working in a remote environment.
Education and Experience: Requires a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent with 5-10 years of practical hands-on work experience in accounting, specifically AP, AR, and payroll. Has prior management experience. Has knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures within accounting. Open to new ideas, comfortable with change.
