Sonnets Academy Hiring for Toddler Lead Teacher Full Time

Sonnets Academy is seeking an experienced full time Early Childhood Lead Teacher to join our Toddler Classroom (15 months to 30 months old). Sonnets Academy is seeking a kind, imaginative, and experienced preschool teacher. This warm and patient individual should have creativity and lots of passion for the field of Early Childhood Education.

Our Early Childhood Lead Teacher is responsible for creating their own curriculum lessons in alignment with our developmental curricular goals and fostering open communication with parents, consistently about progress, schedules, and individual achievement. This position works in collaboration with the Director, Education Coordinator and the other members of the toddler classrooms. You’ll help provide a child-centered, play-based curriculum, which reflects best practices in the daycare industry.

Responsibilities and Duties

• Develop and implement developmentally appropriate curriculum to foster a play based and structured environment
• Arrange indoor and outdoor play spaces that facilitate creative play, motor-skill activities, and safe peer interactions
• Maintain a safe, organized classroom that supports each child’s independent learning
• Assesses and s using curricular checklists, anecdotal notes and narratives throughout the year that effectively and accurately communicates the child’s progress
• Meet the needs of the whole child and support the social and emotional growth of all children
• Supervise, mentor and instruct Associate Teacher and Assistant Teacher for the purpose of providing an effective and efficient classroom environment and addressing the needs of individual students
• Attend and participate in age group team collaborative meetings, whole staff meetings, classroom team meetings and cross age group team meetings
• Establish and maintain appropriate relationships with children, parents, staff and community members by communicating in a respectful, courteous and confidential manner

Qualifications and Skills

• Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education or related area
• Strong knowledge of developmentally appropriate practices for 15 month-to-30-month olds
• Experience creating curriculum lessons for the toddler age group
• CPR and First Aid certification or willingness to obtain certification
• Proof of up to date physical, TB Test, and immunizations
• Food Mangers License or Food Handlers Training Certificate
• Must be a team player and eager to work with others
• Excellent organization skills
• Positive and proactive communication skills
• One or more years of professional experience in an early childhood classroom
• Be open to continual professional development in the field of early childhood
• Must meet and follow all City and State licensing requirements
• Salary dependent on experience and level of education.

• $42,500.00 – $48,500.00 per year

Scheduled Work Hours:

• After a 90 day probationary period and once your classroom team is set, your classroom hours will be 7:30-3:00 or 8:00-3:30, depending on when your assigned classroom opens for the day.
• Once a week, you will have an hour from 3:00-4:00 or 3:30-4:30 for “office hours”/scheduled parent calls
• Once a week, you will have a 30-minute meeting with other leads, administration, or your age group team.
• Hour long lunch break.
