Solutions in Hometown Connections Hiring for Adult ELL/ESL Literacy Teacher Job at Remote Full Time

Solutions in Hometown Connections (SHC), a non-profit serving refugee and immigrant families in the DC Metro area, seeks an ELL teacher for adult beginner preliterate level English language learners

This position is paid hourly and paid time includes live teaching time, student engagement on non class days and class preparation time. The position will teach between 2-4 class groups that meet on Zoom twice per week for 50 minutes each meeting. Hours per week is dependent upon the number of classes but will range between 7-9 hours.

Responsibilities: Use curriculum approved or provided by SHC to teach twice weekly classes.
On non-Zoom teaching days, teachers engage students in English learning using WhatsApp and other platforms.

Requirements (please do not apply if you do not meet these minimum requirements):

• Candidates must have a minimum of one year experience teaching Adult ESL in a classroom setting,

• Candidates must have a degree or certification in TESOL/TESL/TEFL or similar.
• Familiarity with Google Drive, Zoom, WhatsApp and YouTube.

Preferred Experience:

• Experience teaching adult preliterate students
• Experience working with vulnerable communities

This position will be for a 10 week remote teaching position beginning October 4th for students principally located in the greater Hyattsville, Maryland, area.
