Our client, an established and rapidly growing DTC, Ecommerce, and Wholesale resource, is seeking a Soft Home Textile Design Manager to create and manage the design development process from the initial concept through approval. This business is launching a partnership with a well-known celebrity.
Responsibilities:
Develop designs and product mockups through hand rendering/CAD.
Produce technical specs, die lines, print and woven repeats, color separations. Specs must be detailed, accurate and production-ready artwork.
Proactively problem-solve to ensure developments meet required aesthetic, price point, and assortment needs.
Pull inspiration tears and assemble concept boards for development.
Complete detailed design objectives for all new development.
Upload technical specifications into Centric PLM system.
Own the development process through daily communication with the product development team, category management and sourcing team. Strong collaboration.
Send comments on strike-offs, product samples and issues product approvals.
Manage 1+ artist and growth for a team.
Qualifications:Â
Ability to present designs to internal and external stakeholders to gain support for designs and design direction.Â
Experience creating and manipulating print/pattern artwork, colorways, create repeats, color separations, creating product mockups, renderings, and accurate production-ready technical packets.Â
Technical knowledge of the printing process, woven fabrics, product construction, sewing and embroidery techniques and terminology.Â
Expertise developing products directly with factories, understanding of development process from concept through commercialization.
Strong graphic and typography skills.
Deep understanding and love of the home market, competitive landscape, overall design trends.
Ability to work independently as well as with a team in a fast-paced environment.
Extremely organized and highly detail-oriented – excellent calendar adherence and ownership.
Excellent time management skills.
Experience presenting designs to partners in licensing arrangement.Â
Collaborative work environment partnering internally with sourcing, product development and category management teams.Â
Experience working and collaborating with external partners for licensing partnerships.
Bachelor’s Degree in Textile Design, Surface Design, Graphic Design or related experience.Â
Minimum 5-8 years of design work experience with a focus on print and pattern, wovens, typography and icon development.Â
Experience in home textiles.
Must be expert level in Adobe Creative Suite.
Experience with Centric PLM (product lifecycle management) software a plus.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.Â
Excellent organizational skills and keen attention to detail.
This role can be remote but must be able to work in the home office in mid-west one week a month or several days a month. Client will offer relocation if preferred.
