Solar Technology Inc Hiring for Software Developer at Remote Full Time

Job Description

Solar Technology is looking for a skilled software developer who can join our team and help develop cutting-edge software for our solar-powered traffic safety equipment, Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) solution and remote asset tracking & management solutions.

As a software developer, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining a diverse collection of related products including embedded systems, server software which monitors and controls them, and desktop control software which is being turned into a modern web application.

Roles & Responsibilities

· Develop and maintain software that controls Linux-based variable message signs (Java and C++/C).

· Develop and maintain programs that run on embedded Linux systems to support remote sensors such as radar, queue detectors, etc.

· Develop features in the server control software which oversees thousands of message boards, arrow boards, and other equipment.

· Develop programs which run in our server cluster and remotely read data from sensors, cameras, and other data sources directly connected to the internet. (Primarily Java)

· Develop and maintain browser side of our web application using Typescript/Svelte.

· Write and maintain technical documentation related to software development.

· We use Git for version control, Jira for issue tracking, and Slack for communication within the development team, including (typically brief) daily meetings.

Skills & Requirements

· Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering and/or minimum of 2 years of experience in related software development (including significant contributions to open source projects).

· Eligible to reside and work is the US. (For tax reasons, we cannot consider candidates from NJ, CA, OR, VT, MA, CT, or RI)

· The ideal candidate is proficient in Java, C++, Typescript, Python, and Perl.

· We value proficiency of designing for robustness, efficiency and maintainability, and the ability to quickly learn new languages, libraries, and tools over specific experience.

· Experience with Linux. Many of our products run embedded Linux and our development environment is Linux based.

· Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and communicate effectively with non-programmers.

· For remote work, a high speed internet connection is required. A development workstation will be supplied.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $75,000.00 – $110,000.00 per year
