Intermediate Law Clerk – Plaintiff Personal Injury

Experienced plaintiff accident benefit and tort clerk wanted.

Job Requirements

• Preparation and drafting of correspondence and legal documents (including motion records, Statement of Claim, pre-trial/mediation memos, pleadings, affidavits of documents, etc.) for filing and service
• Managing undertakings and refusals
• Coordinating document discovery process
• General file handling and management (on tort files and some Accident Benefits files)
• Production of files and documents, including preparation of Affidavit of Documents, summaries of productions and discovery briefs
• Managing calendars (scheduling examinations for discoveries, mediations etc.)
• Maintaining daily contact with clients in a professional manner
• Other general duties as required
• Speak Mandarin & Cantonese

Qualifications

• Completion of accredited legal assistant and or law clerk program required
• 2+ years experience in dealing with Tort matters (plaintiff personal injury or insurance defense experience)
• Demonstrated experience providing administrative support in an environment with a broad variety of administrative and clerical functions
• Advanced familiarity with the Rules of Civil Procedure and the Statutory Accident Benefits Schedule
• Excellent organizational, time management, and analytical skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities while paying attention to detail
• Confident and dependable, with strong initiative and ability to work both independently and in a team oriented atmosphere
• Demonstrated ability to research/investigate issues and sound decision making skills to resolve problems and or escalate as appropriate
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision
• Demonstrated advanced writing skills to prepare legal correspondence and complete forms
• Ability to exercise good judgment when dealing with clients
• Familiarity with Time Matters and Primafact an asset
• Positive and friendly demeanor
• Willing and positive towards learning, education, advancing skills and adapting to new responsibilities
